Add your music

Upload your tracks to the media library, from your browser — then use them in your areas, rides and shows.

Updated 20 October 2026

Your park's music lives in UTP Connect's Media library. You upload your tracks there, from your browser: no program to install, nothing to type on your VPS.

1. Prepare your files#

  • MP3 plays in every browser, on computers and phones alike. Keep to it.
  • 128 to 192 kbps is plenty: some of your guests listen on phones, often on mobile data. A four-minute track is then about 5 MB.
  • A title and an author in the file, if you can. UTP Connect reads them from the file's tags — the ones your music player shows — and your guests see them while the track plays. A file without them is titled from its name: entrance-plaza.mp3 becomes "Entrance Plaza". You can change both afterwards.
  • For background music that loops, a track that ends where it starts sounds seamless.

2. Upload them#

  1. Open the administration: type /utp admin in game.
  2. Go to Media library.
  3. Click Upload tracks and pick your files — or drop them on the page, as many as you like at once.

Each file is checked before it is kept:

  • a file that isn't audio is refused, and the page says why;
  • a file that is heavy for guests on mobile data — above 256 kbps, or a WAV — is kept, with a warning: convert it to a 128–192 kbps MP3 when you can.

Upload a single file, and its form opens so you can check its Title and Author. Fix them if needed, and Save.

To listen to a track, click the play button at the start of its row. One track plays at a time, and a slider under it lets you move through it.

3. Use them#

Each track can now be picked wherever music goes: Music by area, Ride soundtracks and Shows.

Each track has an address, such as https://connect.your-park.com/music/entrance-plaza.mp3: the copy button in its row puts it in your clipboard. That's what a command such as /utp audio send takes — see Music by area.

Finding a track#

Once your library grows, the bar above it helps:

  • Search by title, author or file name. Type several words to narrow it down: maya amb finds "Maya ruins ambience". Press / to jump to the search box, and Esc to clear it.
  • Sort the list: newest or oldest first, by title or author from A to Z, longest first, most used, or unused first — handy to tidy up. Your choice is remembered the next time you open the page, in this browser.

Each track shows its length, read from its file, and how many areas, rides and shows use it. A track hosted elsewhere has no length shown: UTP Connect never downloads it.

Wherever you pick a track — an area, a ride, a show — the list is in alphabetical order, with each track's length: type the first letters of a title to jump to it.

Replacing or removing a track#

  • To replace a track's file, click the pencil next to it, then Replace the file. The track keeps its title, and every area, ride and show using it plays the new file.
  • To remove a track, click the bin next to it. Its file is deleted too. Careful: the areas that used it lose their music (the administration warns you first). Rides and shows carry on without it.

Put your files on your VPS before?#

Before uploads, these pages had you copy your files into /opt/utp-connect/music with an SFTP program, then add their address to the library. Nothing to redo: those tracks keep working, and become tracks like the others — you can replace and remove them from the library. From now on, upload from the library.

Hosting your music elsewhere#

Uploading is the simplest, but a track can also be a file hosted elsewhere: click Add by address, and give its title and its address. Any address works if:

  • it starts with https://,
  • it points straight at the audio file (not a page with a player on it),
  • the site hosting it allows other sites to play it (this is called CORS; the setting is usually "Access-Control-Allow-Origin").

Links from Google Drive, Dropbox or YouTube do not work: they lead to a page, not to the file. If you host your music on a storage service such as Cloudflare R2 or Bunny, turn on public access and allow CORS for your UTP Connect's address.
