Placeholders
Show whether your rides are open, their leaderboards and your shows' times in the holograms, menus and scoreboards of your other plugins, with PlaceholderAPI.
Updated 16 October 2026
Many plugins show text you write yourself: holograms (DecentHolograms, FancyHolograms), menus (DeluxeMenus, zMenu), scoreboards and tab lists (TAB). With PlaceholderAPI, that text can carry live values from your park. Write %utp_ride_7_availability_label% in a hologram above your queue, and it reads Open — then Under maintenance the moment you close the ride.
Ultimate Theme Park doesn't draw menus of its own: your server's menus look the way you made them, with your own plugins and your own resource pack. Placeholders are how your park gets into them.
Set it up#
- Install PlaceholderAPI on your Minecraft server, if it isn't there already.
- Restart the server. The console says
[placeholder] placeholders offered to PlaceholderAPI (prefix=%utp_).
There's nothing to download with /papi ecloud: the placeholders come with Ultimate Theme Park.
To try one, type in the game:
/papi parse me %utp_ride_7_name%
The chat answers with the ride's name — The Plunge.
How they work#
- A ride or a show goes by its number:
%utp_ride_7_…%is ride 7./utp ride listand/utp sequence listgive the numbers. - Some values are words, for conditions:
open, maintenance, true, down. They are in English and never change, whatever your server's language — what your menu plugin compares against. - Values ending in
_labelare for showing: Under maintenance, En maintenance… in the language of the player reading them. Read by nobody in particular, they are in your park's Default language (Settings in the administration). - Some values are about the player reading them: their own laps, the music they hear. Most scoreboards, menus and holograms show their text to each player separately, so each one sees their own.
- A value with nothing to show is empty: a ride number that doesn't exist, a countdown that isn't running, the 4th place of a leaderboard with three riders. A placeholder spelled wrong stays as you typed it, so you spot it.
Rides#
| Placeholder | Shows | Example |
|---|---|---|
%utp_ride_7_name% | The ride's name | The Plunge |
%utp_ride_7_availability% | Whether it is open: open, closed, maintenance or broken | maintenance |
%utp_ride_7_availability_label% | The same, in words, in the reader's language | Under maintenance |
%utp_ride_7_open% | true when it is open, false otherwise | false |
%utp_ride_7_status% | operating, or down while an emergency stop holds it | operating |
%utp_ride_7_phase% | idle, dispatching, running, unloading or transfer | running |
%utp_ride_7_operator% | The operator on duty, or nothing when the ride runs by itself | MrPopcorn |
%utp_ride_7_countdown% | Seconds before the train leaves, while the countdown runs | 8 |
%utp_ride_7_laps_today% | Laps ridden today, every rider counted | 318 |
%utp_ride_7_laps% | The reader's own laps on this ride | 12 |
Today is counted in UTC, as in your park's API.
Leaderboards#
The top ten, of all time, like the leaderboards hung in your park. Replace 1 with any place from 1 to 10.
| Placeholder | Shows |
|---|---|
%utp_ride_7_top_1_name% | The name of ride 7's first rider |
%utp_ride_7_top_1_laps% | Their laps on it |
%utp_top_1_name% | The first rider of the whole park, every ride added up |
%utp_top_1_laps% | Their laps |
The player reading#
| Placeholder | Shows |
|---|---|
%utp_laps% | Their laps, every ride added up |
%utp_connected% | true when their park page is open (/connect), false otherwise |
%utp_music_title% | The title of what they hear |
%utp_music_author% | Its author |
%utp_riding% | The ride they sit in, or nothing |
%utp_operating% | The ride whose post they hold, or nothing |
Shows#
| Placeholder | Shows | Example |
|---|---|---|
%utp_show_3_name% | The show's name | Maya Night |
%utp_show_3_running% | true while it runs | false |
%utp_show_3_next% | When it next starts on its schedule, on your park's clocks | 21:00 |
%utp_show_3_next_in% | Minutes until then | 45 |
%utp_show_3_next% gives the time alone when it is today, tomorrow 21:00 for tomorrow, the day's name within the week (Saturday 21:00), and the date beyond it. A show with no schedule gives nothing. Its words are in the language of the player reading it: demain 21:00 in French.
Examples#
A sign above the queue#
In a hologram plugin, three lines:
%utp_ride_7_name%
%utp_ride_7_availability_label%
Laps today: %utp_ride_7_laps_today%
When you close the ride for maintenance, the second line turns to Under maintenance on its own: there's no command to write.
A ride's leaderboard#
Top riders — %utp_ride_7_name%
1. %utp_ride_7_top_1_name% (%utp_ride_7_top_1_laps%)
2. %utp_ride_7_top_2_name% (%utp_ride_7_top_2_laps%)
3. %utp_ride_7_top_3_name% (%utp_ride_7_top_3_laps%)
Your laps: %utp_ride_7_laps%
A scoreboard#
Laps: %utp_laps%
Now playing: %utp_music_title%
Next show: %utp_show_3_next%
Most scoreboard plugins can show a line only when a condition holds: show Type /connect to hear the park while %utp_connected% is false.
A menu of your rides#
A menu plugin can show each ride as an item, its look depending on whether it is open, and its lore saying why it is closed. With DeluxeMenus, ride 7 is two items in the same slot: the first shows while the ride is open, the second otherwise.
items:
plunge_open:
material: LIME_CONCRETE
slot: 10
priority: 1
display_name: '&a%utp_ride_7_name%'
lore:
- '&7Laps today: %utp_ride_7_laps_today%'
view_requirement:
requirements:
open:
type: string equals
input: '%utp_ride_7_open%'
output: 'true'
plunge_closed:
material: RED_CONCRETE
slot: 10
priority: 2
display_name: '&c%utp_ride_7_name%'
lore:
- '&7%utp_ride_7_availability_label%'
A menu for your staff can also open and close rides when an item is clicked, by running the command from the console: utp ride availability 7 maintenance. Only give such a menu to people you'd trust with closing your rides.
