Draw your park's map
Give the map its border in the game, and UTP Connect draws your park from above — lit, with your coasters and your props.
Updated 30 October 2026
UTP Connect draws your park's map itself, from the blocks of your world: seen from above, lit by the sun, with your coasters and the props you placed. Your guests get it in a Map tab on their page, right after Audio.
1. Give it its border#
The map covers the area you give it, and nothing else. In the game, select your park with WorldEdit — any shape works: a cuboid, a polygon (//sel poly), a cylinder — then type:
/utp map border
To use a WorldGuard region instead of a selection:
/utp map border <region>
Only the outline counts: the map takes in your park's whole height, from the bottom of the world to the sky, so a selection clicked on the ground is enough. A map can be 2,048 blocks on a side at most.
The Map page of the administration shows the border, in its card The park's border, as soon as you have done it. To change it later, select the new area and type the command again.
2. Draw the map#
The map is drawn with the game's own textures, the same ones as the on-ride photo: if you haven't fetched them yet, the card The render on the Map page offers to, with Upload or Fetch from Mojang. Your resource pack, if you uploaded one, gives your custom blocks and props their true look.
Then click Render map, at the top right of the page. Your Minecraft server reads the park, chunk by chunk, and UTP Connect draws it. A park of a few hundred blocks takes under a minute; a large one a few minutes. Your server keeps running meanwhile, and the card The render shows the progress.
After that, the button says Update map render: click it when you have built something new. Only what changed is drawn again.
3. Show it to your guests#
In the card For your guests, at the top of the Map page:
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show the map to guests | Adds the Map tab to your guests' page. Leave it off while you place your points and hide your backstage. |
| Offer directions | Lets guests ask for the way to a point, along the paths you draw. |
| Players shown | Whose heads guests see: everyone, only themselves, or nobody. |
They save as you change them.
Good to know#
- What the map leaves out: chests, signs, banners, player heads and beds are drawn by the game in its own way, not from a model, and are not on the map. Neither are entities other than props — mobs, item frames, minecarts at rest.
- Props are the models your park shows on armour stands' heads and in display entities: lamp posts, a jeep, tents. They are drawn where they stand.
- Coasters built with TC-Coasters are drawn as your players see them: from the objects placed along their tracks — rails, catwalks, chains. A track with no objects is drawn by nobody in the game, so it is left out too: one that only moves a gate, or one under rails you built in blocks (the blocks are drawn). Objects shown the older way, on armour stands or as falling blocks, are left out.
- Trains are not drawn: the map shows your coasters, not the trains on them.
- A backup of UTP Connect leaves the map's pictures out — they are most of its weight — and keeps what they are drawn from. After a restore, UTP Connect draws the map again by itself, in a minute or two.
